E-Signatures

We spent quite some time comparing the e-signature programs that are out there. We tried EchoSign, AssureSign, AlphaTrust, and DocuSign.

Here is a column-by-column comparison with the highlights of each system. Note - A transaction is essentially a single delivery/one email, of any page count, to recipient(s).

SYSTEM

QUALITIES

COST

EchoSign

Cannot place a signature or initial in the middle of a page, drastically limiting how and where you can note acknowledgement of important portions of the agreement. Lindsey Hunnewell assisted me in my research. She can be reached at lindsey@echosign.com

$300 per month for 25 transactions.

AssureSign

This allows flexibility of multiple signers and placing signatures in any area on the page. They also allow you to do handwritten signatures instead of electronic ones. David Henderson at AssureSign was very helpful and he can be reached at david.henderson@assuresign.com

$150 per month + $3.25 per document.

AlphaTrust

This one we just stopped in the beginning, when we were told the price. That being said, they will do all the “grunt” work of filling in the forms and creating the templates for you. So, if you are short on time and long on money this may be the route for you. Helene Berren should be able to help you. She can be reached at heleneberren@alphatrust.com.

$600 set-up fee + $100 per month + a transaction fee.

DocuSign

Both web and desktop applications, depending upon which level you wish to purchase. Just “print” your document into the DocuSign printer option and it automatically takes you to the portal in which you apply signature areas and recipients. ((CAREFUL though, as there is a time-limit once you start applying the initialed areas. So, be quick about it. - Time restraints do not exist on the higher “Pro” Level version.)) We bought the Pro package and are VERY happy with it. Contact Bill Tuck for details at bill.tuck@docusign.com.

Do not look at their website pricing. It will confuse you. They also tried to sell us a much larger package than we needed. The rep might give you different numbers too. Just tell them you want either The Web Plan for $19.95 a month for 20 transactions. No set-up fee. Or, that you want The “Pro” Level, which should offer 40 transactions per month for $39.95 for a single user. There is also The Enterprise version, which we are not privy to YET.
