At some point of time in the future, you will experience some sort of building emergency at your property.  The emergency may include a utility service such as WATER, GAS or ELECTRICITY.  Be prepared for the emergency by becoming familiar with your utility usage.  Check out your water, gas and electricity meters so you know what they register on a normal day.  Check them weekly while you are learning them and monthly thereafter.

If you believe you have a WATER or GAS leak, the meter should show increased activity.  If you are familiar with your REGULAR activity, you should be able to better detect a leak.  The best way to be prepared is to be intimately familiar with your property.  Know it like you know the back of your hand - or better!
